## Short answer

- Business email hosting gives each person a mailbox on your own domain (you@yourcompany.com), with the provider running the servers, spam filtering and storage.
- If you only need mail, a dedicated email host costs a small fraction of a full suite; if your team lives in shared documents and video calls, Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 earns its higher price.
- Hostinger Business Email lists plans from 5 GB to 50 GB per mailbox, and the low headline price needs the 48-month term, with a higher renewal rate afterwards.
- Whichever you choose, add SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, or your mail will land in spam more often than it should.

## What business email hosting is, and what it isn't

A business email hosting service rents you mailboxes on a domain you own. Each person gets an address like `sales@yourcompany.com`, webmail, and the option to connect Outlook, Apple Mail or a phone app over IMAP. You keep the domain. The provider keeps the mail server running.

It's not a free Gmail or Outlook.com address, which carries someone else's brand. It's not email forwarding either, which passes mail along to another inbox but usually can't send as your domain properly. And it differs from the mailboxes bundled with a web hosting plan: those run on the same shared server as your website, so a busy or compromised site can affect your mail.

- **Dedicated email hosting:** mail only, usually the cheapest per mailbox.
- **Email inside a productivity suite:** mail plus documents, calendar, chat and video (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
- **Email bundled with web hosting:** convenient for a small site, but it shares resources with the website.
- **Self-hosted mail server:** full control, and you own deliverability, security and uptime. Rarely worth it for a small team.

## What Hostinger Business Email costs

These figures are from Hostinger's own email plan page, read on 27 October 2026. Prices are USD per mailbox per month, before tax. The low price needs the 48-month term, paid upfront, and the renewal rate is higher.

| Plan | Price on 48 months | Renews at | Storage | Aliases | Forwarding rules |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Starter | $0.39/mo | $1.59/mo | 5 GB | 5 | 5 |
| Standard | $0.99/mo | $2.79/mo | 20 GB | 10 | 20 |
| Premium | $1.99/mo | $3.99/mo | 50 GB | 30 | 50 |

> From the bench: The plan page lists spam, virus and phishing protection, webmail and mobile access, audit logs and auto-replies on every tier, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. It does not list a free trial. It lists email features, not a shared document editor or video meetings, and that's the main thing to weigh against a suite.

## How it compares with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and Zoho

I don't print competitor prices: they change often and differ by country, so a number here would be stale within weeks. What doesn't change is how each one is built and who it suits.

| Service | What it is | Best for | Weigh against |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Hostinger Business Email | Email-only plans with aliases and forwarding | Small teams that only need reliable mailboxes cheaply | No bundled office suite or meetings listed; renewal is higher than the intro rate |
| Google Workspace | Gmail on your domain plus Docs, Drive, Meet and Calendar | Teams that collaborate in shared documents daily | Priced per user at several times a dedicated email host |
| Microsoft 365 | Outlook email plus Teams, OneDrive and Office apps | Companies already on Word, Excel and Teams | Plan tiers and prices change; check the current page |
| Zoho Mail | Email-focused, with a free tier and a wider optional suite | A free start or an email-first setup | The free plan covers up to 5 users on one domain, 5 GB each, in selected regions |

## Which one fits your team

Choose by how your team works, not by the lowest headline price.

| If you are… | Look at | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| A freelancer or a 1 to 5 person team that mainly sends and receives email | Hostinger Business Email or Zoho Mail | You pay for mail only, at a few dollars a month at most |
| A team that edits documents and spreadsheets together every day | Google Workspace | Mail, shared drive and meetings are built to work together |
| A company that already runs on Word, Excel and Teams | Microsoft 365 | Same files and sign-in as the tools staff already use |
| Testing an idea on a budget | Zoho Mail Free | Free for up to 5 users on one domain, with feature and region limits |
| One website and a few mailboxes | Your web host's email, or a separate email plan | Convenient, but see the shared-server warning below |

## What to check before you pay

These are the points that cause problems after you've already moved your mail.

- **Renewal price.** Intro prices often apply to the first term only. Find the price for the second term.
- **Storage per mailbox,** and whether it's pooled with file storage. A 5 GB mailbox fills faster than most people expect once attachments pile up.
- **Mailboxes and aliases.** Aliases let one person receive `sales@` and `billing@` without paying for extra mailboxes.
- **Authentication.** The service should let you publish SPF, DKIM and DMARC records.
- **Migration.** Check whether it can import your existing mailbox over IMAP so old messages come with you.
- **Support.** A real chat or ticket route, and a clear refund window.
- **Lock-in.** Keep your domain registered in your own account, not with the email provider, so you can switch later.

## Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC so your mail is trusted

Mail from a domain with no authentication records is far more likely to be filtered. Large mailbox providers have required SPF or DKIM, and a published DMARC policy, from bulk senders for some time, and small senders benefit from the same records.

Your email provider gives you the exact SPF and DKIM values to add in your domain's DNS. The DMARC record you add yourself. A safe first version only monitors and blocks nothing:

DMARC record: host _dmarc, type TXT. Replace the address with your own mailbox.

```dns
_dmarc.yourcompany.com.  TXT  "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc-reports@yourcompany.com"
```

> From the bench: After a couple of weeks of clean reports you can tighten `p=none` to `p=quarantine`. Move one step at a time and confirm your own invoices and newsletters still arrive before you tighten again.

## A warning about email on shared web hosting

Many web hosting plans include free mailboxes. For a small brochure site that's fine. The risk is that the website and the mail run on one shared server: a hacked plugin sending spam, or another customer on the same IP, can get that address blocklisted and your invoices start landing in spam.

If email is how you get paid, a separate email plan, even a cheap one, is a sensible precaution. The step-by-step for connecting a mailbox is in the [Hostinger email setup guide](https://www.savemores.store/guides/hostinger-email-setup).

## When Hostinger Business Email isn't the right pick

It's inexpensive and email-focused, which is its strength and its limit. Look elsewhere if:

- Your team collaborates in documents and spreadsheets all day. Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 will save more time than the price gap costs.
- You depend on Teams or Google Meet for client calls.
- You need compliance features or very large mailboxes that the smaller tiers don't offer.
- You want to start free. Zoho Mail Free covers up to five users on one domain. Free website hosting is a different story; see the [free hosting guide](https://www.savemores.store/guides/free-website-hosting-limits).

## How I compared these

SaveMores is an independent Hostinger referral site. If you buy through a link here we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. That's why a coupon button appears on this page, and it's why I also say where Hostinger is the wrong choice. The [disclosure page](https://www.savemores.store/disclosure) and [how we test](https://www.savemores.store/how-we-test) explain the rest.

Hostinger figures come from its plan page on 27 October 2026. The other services are described by what they are built for, from their own pages, with no prices quoted. Plans change, so confirm before you pay.

## FAQ

### What is business email hosting?

A paid service that runs mailboxes on your own domain, such as you@yourcompany.com. The provider stores the mail, filters spam and keeps the servers online, and you read mail in webmail or in apps like Outlook.

### How much does business email hosting cost?

Hostinger's email plans list from $0.39 to $1.99 per mailbox per month on a 48-month term (checked 27 October 2026), rising at renewal. Suites such as Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 charge per user at several times that, and Zoho Mail has a free plan for up to five users.

### Is business email different from web hosting?

Yes. Web hosting serves your website; email hosting stores and delivers your mail. Many web hosts include mailboxes, but they share a server with your site, so a separate email plan is safer if email matters to your income.

### Do I need Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 for business email?

Only if you want the full suite of documents, calendars and video calls. If you only need mailboxes on your domain, a dedicated email host costs much less per user.

### Can I use the domain I already own?

Yes. You point the domain's MX records at the email provider and the registration stays where it is. That also makes it easier to switch providers later.

### Will my business emails go to spam?

Not if you authenticate the domain. Add the SPF and DKIM records your provider gives you, publish a DMARC record, and avoid sending bulk mail from an ordinary mailbox.
