## Short answer

- Yes, Hostinger is legitimate: an established hosting company founded in 2004 in Kaunas, Lithuania, with millions of customers.
- It runs data centers in North America, Europe, Asia and South America and offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on hosting.
- Every site gets free SSL; shared plans include malware scanning and a web application firewall.
- The main downsides are higher renewal prices, no phone support and weekly backups on entry plans.

## The verdict: legitimate, with trade-offs

Hostinger is a real company that has been in the hosting business for a long time. It started in Kaunas, Lithuania, in 2004, serves millions of customers, operates data centers on several continents, and backs hosting with a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Legit isn't the same as flawless. The rest of this page covers what it does well and what you should plan around.

## Paying Hostinger safely

You pay on Hostinger's own checkout, over HTTPS, through the usual card processors plus PayPal or local methods depending on country. I never see your payment details. My link does one thing: it puts the coupon in your cart.

## What protects your website

The security basics are included rather than upsold:

- Free SSL on every site.
- Malware scanning and a web application firewall on shared plans.
- Automatic backups: weekly on entry plans, daily on Business and above.
- Two-factor authentication for the hPanel login.

> From the bench: Turn on two-factor for hPanel the day you sign up. A stolen hosting password is how most small sites actually get compromised, not some exotic server exploit.

## The downsides I'd plan for

None of these are deal-breakers, but you should know them going in:

- Renewal prices are higher than the intro price. Budget for it and take a long first term. My [renewal guide](https://www.savemores.store/guides/hostinger-renewal-price) has the details.
- There's no phone line. Support is 24/7 chat and tickets.
- Entry plans back up weekly rather than daily.
- Checkout offers add-ons, and most aren't needed on day one.

## Who it suits, and who it doesn't

Hostinger is a good fit for bloggers, small businesses, students, freelancers and developers who want decent speed for little money and don't mind chat support. See my notes for [bloggers](https://www.savemores.store/best-for/bloggers), [small businesses](https://www.savemores.store/best-for/small-business) and [Next.js and Node developers](https://www.savemores.store/best-for/nextjs-node).

Who shouldn't buy it: large, mission-critical sites with a team behind them may be better served by a managed premium host.

## Is the coupon itself legit?

Yes. WEBHOST2026 is an official Hostinger referral code. I last tested it at a live checkout in October 2026, and it appears as a discount line in your cart before you pay anything. If it ever doesn't, the [coupon troubleshooting guide](https://www.savemores.store/guides/hostinger-coupon-not-working) covers why.
