Servers, tax and domains

There's no data center in Sri Lanka. India is the nearest location for web, cloud and VPS plans, with Malaysia and Indonesia further away. If most of your visitors are overseas, for example tourists booking from Europe, host near them instead.

Hostinger's pages describe no Sri Lanka-specific tax, and it issues tax-compliant invoices only for the EU and Northern Ireland, India and Indonesia. Its terms say tax follows the country on your account; the order summary shows the final total. Add a company name and tax ID before paying if you want them on the invoice.

The .lk extension is run by the LK Domain Registry, and I couldn't confirm Hostinger sells it. If you want one, register it locally and point it at Hostinger with nameservers. A .com is simpler to buy and renew alongside your hosting.

Freelancers and tourism businesses

Two kinds of Sri Lankan buyers come up most. Freelancers building sites for overseas clients should host near the client's audience and keep each site in the client's own account. Guesthouses, tour operators and hotels usually sell to visitors from abroad, so their site should load fast in Europe or wherever bookings come from, not just in Colombo.
